Since being founded in Milwaukee in 1903, Harley-Davidson has been one of the premier American motorcycle manufacturers. Although the first iteration of their machine could not climb the hills of Milwaukee, William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson quickly set to work on a second more powerful model. Once this goal was achieved, the Harley-Davidson team managed to sell their motorcycle to police departments. The biggest boost in sales for the company came with WW1 as the U.S. military purchased around 15,000 motorcycles during the war.
By 1920, Harley-Davidson was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. A year later, the motorcycle company was the first ever to win a race with an average speed greater than 100 mph. By 1935, after being one of the two American motorcycle companies that survived the Great Depression, Harley-Davidson completely discontinued its models carrying only one cylinder in favor of their V-Twin engines.
As of today, the Harley-Davidson brand is vigorously active through motorcycle clubs and events where the community can share their love for the sport. What Tools Do I Need for a Harley Davidson Touch Up Paint Job?
To create the best looking coat for your bike, we recommend the following for your touch up paint kits:
PRIMER, COLOR, AND CLEARCOAT - It goes without saying that you need paint to do a touch up paint job. Clearcoat provides a thin protective layer for your paint job, while Primer is required for damage that has reached the original base material.
WAX AND GREASE REMOVER CLOTH - The wax and grease remover cloth is used to remove wax, grease, and contaminants before painting.
SANDPAPER - Wet sanding the affected area removes rust and prepares the surface with a rough finish so the motorcycle touch up paint can stick better.
POLISHING COMPOUND - The polishing compound smooths everything out with a factory-grade finish and provides excellent paint repair qualities.
