We’ve Got Aprilia Touch Up Paint
This Italian motorcycle company is fairly recent when compared to other Italian competitors. Aprilia was first founded in 1945 by Cavaliere Alberto Beggio but it did not meddle with motorized engines before his son, Ivano Beggio, endorsed the role of head of the company in 1968. The early models were equipped with very small engines and were still equipped with pedals.
The first “real” bike produced by the company was a 1970 Scarabeo designed for cross country. However, the model widely recognized as a true cross bike was the 1974 model. From this model and from many tests came a street bike, the RC125, which was very well received from the public but most of the company’s achievements derived from off-road racing competitions. In 1977, Aprilia won the 125cc and the 250cc Italian Motorcross Championships with Ivan Alboghetti driving. Since their first win, the company has kept competing and winning in many categories.
During the 80’s, Aprilia expanded its line of motorcycle with the addition of enduro, trials and road on a range between 50cc and 600cc. The introduction of the brand on U.S. Soil will take place in 1988 with the TRX312M trial bikes. The next year will see the release of “The Climber”, the first massively produced liquid-cooled trial machines.
In 2004, Aprilia was acquired by fellow Italian company Piaggio making the group the fourth largest motorcycle organization in the world. As of 2010, Aprilia surpassed its Italian consort MV Agusta as the western constructor with the most wins in motorcycle GP history.
