The first "real" bike produced by the company was a 1970 Scarabeo designed for cross country. However, the model widely recognized as a true cross bike was the 1974 model. From this model and from many tests came a street bike, the RC125, which was very well received by the public but most of the company's achievements derived from off-road racing competitions. In 1977, Aprilia won the 125cc and the 250cc Italian Motocross Championships with Ivan Alboghetti driving. Since their first win, the company has kept competing and winning in many categories.
In 2004, Aprilia was acquired by fellow Italian company Piaggio making this group the fourth largest motorcycle organization in the world. As of 2010, Aprilia surpassed Italian MV Agusta as the western constructor with the most wins in motorcycle GP history.

What tools do I need for a Aprilia touch up paint job?
To create the best looking coat for your vehicle, we recommend the following:
PRIMER, COLOR, AND CLEARCOAT - It goes without saying that you need paint to do a touch up paint job. Clearcoat provides a thin protective layer for your paint job while Primer is required for damage that has reached the original base material.
WAX AND GREASE REMOVER CLOTH - The wax and grease remover cloth is used to remove wax, grease, and contaminants before painting.
SANDPAPER - Wet-sanding the affected area removes rust and prepares the surface with a rough finish so the paint can stick better.
POLISHING COMPOUND - The polishing compound smooths everything out with a factory-grade finish.
