TouchUpDirect Aerosol Matte Clearcoat
-
Description
Our Matte Clearcoats are specifically designed to match the most common finishes offered by manufacturers. We offer finishes ranging from very Matte (think chalkboard) to semi-gloss. We have 5 levels of Matte finish:
• FC01 – Flat. Common with interiors and auto trims. Some motorcycles have this level of Matte.
• FC02 – Matte. This is a less common level of Matte. This is still dry looking but will have some sheen.
• FC03 – Eggshell. This is our most common finish especially for motorcycle colors. FC03 has a slight sheen and silkiness to it.
• FC04 – Satin. Seen with some motorcycle manufactures that are going for a Matte look but want their colors to shine. Less common than FC03.
• FC05 – Semi-gloss. This is very common with automotive manufactures like Mercedes and BMW. This has a very obvious sheen to it and will look very silky when dry.Note: If you are unsure about what Matte finish you need, please reach out to our customer support so they can help guide you.

- Assess Colorcoat application. Clearcoat will highlight any imperfections, so make sure issues with the Colorcoat are fixed before applying Clearcoat.
- Shake well. Periodically shake between sprays. Aim can in a safe direction, away from anything that should not be painted. Test spray the can 1-2 times with a quick spray to clear the nozzle and ensure the can is functioning properly.
- Holding can 6-8 inches from the face of the target area, begin spraying your first pass 1-2 inches before the actual target area. Continue holding the spray trigger for 1-2 inches past the target area. Using the same technique as the previous pass, continue to apply strokes until the surface is evenly covered. Overlap the previous pass by 50% to ensure thorough coverage.
- Apply 2-3 coats using the same methods used earlier. Let paint dry for 15-30 minutes between coats. When finished, aim can in a safe direction, hold can upside down and spray 2-3 quick bursts to clear nozzle.
