Plymouth Touch Up Paint
Soon after Plymouth's launch in the automotive industry, the United States entered a period of financial crisis. Considering the new brand's clientele in the lower price range, Plymouth was a considerable asset that aided Chrysler to get through this difficult period. In 1940 and ‘41, Plymouth sales were so important that the brand almost surpassed Ford's numbers.
Plymouth sales started to decline near the end of the ‘50s and early ‘60s as a result of the poor quality of the materials used for the cars; they were prone to rust. Due to this damaged reputation and with Plymouth's late arrival in the performance car market, times were difficult until the late ‘60s and the arrival of the muscle car. The brand used sports car models like the Barracuda and put a lot of power in them to attain big performance and even allowed the brand to be represented on the racing circuit.
Once again, financial crisis and the rising gas prices put a dent in Plymouth's sale previsions for its muscle cars and the brands late entry in the small car market affected the company. In the late ‘80s, Plymouth stopped working on its own line of cars and simply consisted of re-badged Dodge vehicles. At the time when Daimler acquired Chrysler, Plymouth had only one remaining model unique to its brand, the Prowler. Prior to the sale, Chrysler had planned to reintroduce particular Plymouth models. The Chrysler PT Cruiser was one of the models designed in this context but instead, Daimler preferred to gradually phase out the brand in 2000.

What tools do I need for a Plymouth touch up paint job?
To create the best looking coat for your vehicle, we recommend the following:
PRIMER, COLOR, AND CLEARCOAT - It goes without saying that you need paint to do a touch up paint job. Clearcoat provides a thin protective layer for your paint job while Primer is required for damage that has reached the original base material.
WAX AND GREASE REMOVER CLOTH - The wax and grease remover cloth is used to remove wax, grease, and contaminants before painting.
SANDPAPER - Wet-sanding the affected area removes rust and prepares the surface with a rough finish so the paint can stick better.
POLISHING COMPOUND - The polishing compound smooths everything out with a factory-grade finish.
These tools are all available with our Platinum kit but can be purchased separately on the TouchUpDirect website.
