Lincoln Touch Up Paint
Henry Leland admired Abraham Lincoln, so when he was forced out of the management at Cadillac, he founded his own automotive brand with his son and named it after the President. Because the company was created in 1917, World War I provided the brand's first source of revenue by assembling Liberty aircraft engines with parts from the Ford Motor Company. It is after the war that the firm could dedicate itself to the manufacturing of luxury vehicles.
Due to financial difficulties, Leland was forced to sell his company to Ford in 1922. Under Ford's management, the brand succeeded to cut production cost and lower the price of the cars. With these facts and some changes to the bodywork, Lincoln quickly reached its competitors like Cadillac to the top of the American luxury vehicle market.
The next big step for the company came from the Zephyr model which was designed by Eugene T. Gregoire as a request by Henry Ford's son. Edsel Ford wanted a less boxy car more in line with those of European design to ride around in on vacation. The result was a four inch sectioning of the body and a rear tire mount. This design proved so popular that it spruced one of the most notorious model to ever enter the market, the Lincoln Continental.
Over the years, the company supplied a wide range of custom Lincolns for government use, either by the police forces or even as presidential limousines. Lincoln is now working to please a younger crowd with models such as the Navigator or the MK series. Whatever Lincoln model you own, we have the perfect color matching touch up paint for it. What tools do I need for a Lincoln touch up paint job?
To create the best looking coat for your vehicle, we recommend the following:
PRIMER, COLOR, AND CLEARCOAT - It goes without saying that you need paint to do a touch up paint job. Clearcoat provides a thin protective layer for your paint job while Primer is required for damage that has reached the original base material.
WAX AND GREASE REMOVER CLOTH - The wax and grease remover cloth is used to remove wax, grease, and contaminants before painting.
SANDPAPER - Wet-sanding the affected area removes rust and prepares the surface with a rough finish so the paint can stick better.
POLISHING COMPOUND - The polishing compound smooths everything out with a factory-grade finish.
These tools are all available with our Platinum kit but can be purchased separately on the TouchUpDirect website.
