TouchUpDirect Polishing Kit

  • Description

The TUD Polishing Kit is primarily designed for increasing gloss and adding a deep luster to TUD Aerosol Paint Projects. The Polishing Kit will remove roughness in the finish, small runs and drips, mild shrinkage, and the smallest blemishes in the Clearcoat of a paint job. The Polishing Kit can also enhance the original factory finish on most vehicles. The Kit includes a Polishing Wax as a final finish to help protect the paint job that is safe to use on any painted gloss surface.

    1. Dip the Sanding Pad in a cup of water and thoroughly wet it. Lightly rub the Sanding Pad on the painted surface in a circular motion, dipping the pad repeatedly into the water as you progress. You should see a dulling effect or cloudiness on the surface as you progress, with the water turning milky as well. If you wetsand for a short time, then move to Step 2. If you desire more gloss and a smoother finish, return to Step 1 and repeat.
    2. Wipe down the surface with the microfiber cloth to remove dust and water. Attach the drill extension to your drill and then the Red Polishing Pad to the drill extension. Squeeze a dime-size drop of Gloss Restorer onto the center of the Red Polishing Pad. Use the Red Polishing Pad to gently smear the Gloss Restorer onto the target area. Activate the drill in its faster setting and with medium pressure completely work the entire area that needs its gloss restored. Use the Gloss Restorer liberally, keeping the Polishing Pad feeling damp. Continue until gloss is fully achieved. If you still see roughness, texture, or small blemishes, head back to Step 1 and repeat. Once satisfied with the overall smoothness and gloss of the finish, proceed to Step 3.
    3. Step 3 is similar to Step 2 in application. Install Blue Polishing Pad onto the drill extension and apply a dime-sized amount of Final Finish onto the Blue Polishing Pad. Smear it onto the surface, activate drill and polish the entire area. When done polishing, wipe off excess polish with microfiber cloth.
    • Can I use the Polishing Kit with Pen, Brush or Combo touch up project?
    • The TouchUpDirect Polishing Kit can be used for TouchUpDirect Brush, Pen, and Combo applicator repairs. Due to the nature of how the Brush, Pen, and Combo are applied, the Polishing Kit can improve the appearance of the touch up repair, but it will not make it 100% smooth.
    • What kind of drill do I need?
    • If using a cordless drill, be sure it’s fully charged prior. There may be a lot of drill run time when doing all the steps of the Polishing Kit.
    • What else can I use the Polishing Kit for?
    • The Polishing Kit can be used on any original glossy finish. If you have mild imperfections from weather, age, water spots, or overspray on pretty much anything, the Polishing Kit can help restore the finish.
    • Can I use it to remove hard tape lines?
    • NO. The Polishing Kit will not remove hard tape lines from a paint project. Hard tape lines need to be avoided to make an aerosol paint project look acceptable. See TUD YouTube channel for tips on avoiding hard tape lines.
