Meet The TouchUpDirect Tesla Touch Up Kit
Imagine. You have found a dreadful little nick on your beloved Tesla. However small, that tiny chip can ruin even the most smooth and beautiful paint job. Whether it be the careless brush of the shopping cart against your car door or a vengeful bird targeting your Tesla, we here at TouchUpDirect understand your pain. That’s why we’ve been working on a little something to make sure you don’t have to worry about those nasty little scuffs. We are proud to unveil the brand new Tesla Chips and Nicks Touch Up Kit! With our innovative Pen design, you’ll easily be rid of those paint chips in no time. From Pearl White to Midnight Silver to Deep Blue Metallic, we’ve got you covered on every angle!
So what’s in the Tesla Chips and Nicks Touch Up Kit? Let’s take a look at the items included. You’ll be pleased to know that we cover all the Tesla models (Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y). The first step in the touch up process isn’t to lay down a layer of paint, it’s to check your color code and make sure you got the correct color. Make sure you check the label to see if it matches your Tesla’s color code. We also provide a test card with each of our orders. Follow the instructions on the card and compare it to your current car color. If it’s a match, you’re good to go. Is it now time to paint? No! It’s time to get rid of all the contaminants on your car. Contaminants like wax and grease can wreak absolute havoc on your paint job. This is why we’ve come up with our excellent Wax & Grease Remover Wipes. Simply wipe down the target area (in one direction) before you begin your paint process. The towelette will ensure that no contaminants will get reapplied in the repair. Now you’re ready to paint! But to apply your paint, you’ll need an applicator.
The Tesla Chips and Nicks Touch Up Kit comes with the perfect applicator for small scratches: the Pen. This applicator is perfect for damaged areas that are smaller than a pencil eraser. Its chiseled nib tip was created to allow maximum control over the amount of paint released during the touch up. Make sure to prime the Pen before you start the touch up process. Simply find a soft surface and gently press the Pen tip down. After 3 to 5 pumps, you should see paint flow into the Pen tip. The Pen is filled with 6 ml of low-VOC environmentally friendly touch up paint made right here in our factory in Chino, California. Whatever your need, the Pen comes in a variety of Tesla colors: Midnight Silver, Deep Blue Metallic, Red Multi-Coat, Pearl White Multi-Coat, and Solid Black. As Tricoats, the Red and the Pearl White Multi-Coats need more than one Pen. But to explain Tricoats, we first need to talk about the Colorcoat.
The Colorcoat (or the Basecoat) is, as its name suggests, the step that gives your paint job its color. If you have a Tesla Solid Black Colorcoat, you’ll have a black car. If you have a Tesla Deep Blue Metallic, you’ll have a blue car. If you have a Tesla Pearl White Multi-Coat…well that’s a little more complicated. The Tesla Pearl White, along with the Tesla Red Multi-Coat, is a Tricoat. That means that there is an extra layer that goes on top of the normal Colorcoat/Basecoat. Why? The Tricoat’s purpose is to create an incredible effect in your vehicle’s paint job. Its most famous effects include candy and pearl. Tricoats quite literally put the Pearl in Tesla Pearl White, while it creates a more lustrous red in the Tesla Red Multi-Coat. This extra layer is called the Midcoat. If you have 3 Pens in your Tesla Chips and Nicks Touch Up Kit, you have a Tricoat. The Basecoat and Midcoat are clearly labeled on the back of the touch up Pen. Make sure to apply the Basecoat first, followed by the Midcoat and the Clearcoat. 2 to 3 coats for each step with 15 minutes in between each coat to allow it to dry.
The next step is the Clearcoat. Clearcoat is a thin layer of finish that is applied over the Colorcoat. This finish is designed to both protect and enhance. Clearcoat creates a shield for your paint job against everything from small, outside detritus to rust and corrosion. It also provides a measure of UV protection that will slow your paint job’s fade. Clearcoat also provides an incredible finish. Your paint job will not be complete until the Clearcoat is dry on your vehicle. This multi-step technique lets the Clearcoat take the pressure off the Colorcoat, allowing for more vibrant shades.
