What Tools Do I Need for a Chevrolet Touch Up Paint Job?

chevrolet Touch Up Paint Tools including Polishing compound, sand paper, clearcoat, basecoat, primer and wax and grease remover wipe
To create the best looking coat for your vehicle, we recommend the following:

PRIMER, COLOR, AND CLEARCOAT - It goes without saying that you need paint to do a touch up paint job. Clearcoat provides a thin protective layer for your paint job, while Primer is required for damage that has reached the original base material.

WAX AND GREASE REMOVER CLOTH - The wax and grease remover cloth in the touch up paint kit is used to remove wax, grease, and contaminants before painting.

SANDPAPER - Wet sanding the affected area removes rust and prepares the surface with a rough finish so the Chevrolet paint touch up can stick better.

POLISHING COMPOUND - The polishing compound smooths everything out with a factory-grade finish.

These tools are all available with our Chevy touch up paint Platinum Kit but can be purchased separately on the TouchUpDirect website.

How to Find Your Chevrolet Paint Code

The information regarding the Chevrolet paint color code is located on the "Service Parts Identification" sticker. There are a few places you can look when trying to find the paint code information. Start by looking on the driver side door jamb, behind/under the driver seat or in the rear of the middle console. In case you do not find the Chevrolet paint code in these locations you can try inside the rear deck lid, the spare wheel cover/well or inside the glove box. The paint code normally starts with "BC" or "CC" indicating if the paint is a base coat or a clear coat. If your Chevy is a two-tone car, the letter "U" stands for the upper body paint color code and "L" stands for the lower or bumper color. The following information should be a string of 4 numbers. Chevrolet Paint Code Examples: GNX/WA715U, 74/WA9260

Chevrolet history and information

Chevrolet's Story

In 1911, race car driver Louis Chevrolet started the Chevrolet Motor Car Company with former GM founder William C. Durant. The two car aficionados met while Chevrolet's racing career brought him to pilot for Buick. As the company quickly rose to success, differences in design led to Chevrolet selling his shares of the company to Durant who was then able to return to GM. Once back in his original position, Durant made the executive decision to absorb Chevrolet into GM but kept it as a separate division. It is undeniable that Chevrolet is part of the American automobile landscape thanks to the introduction of the six-cylinder engine. The appreciation of the American consumer for the brand is shown in the affectionate nickname of Chevy. It is also popular among Transformer fans as the Chevy Camaro is used as Bumblebee's new alternate mode. There are few brands with more heritage than Chevrolet. Your Chevy deserves quality touch up paint especially with classics like the Camaro, Corvette, and Bel Air. Our Chevrolet touch up paint covers the modern day versions of these classics along with their older counterparts.
