What tools do I need for a Buick touch up paint job?

buick Touch Up Paint Tools including Polishing compound, sand paper, clearcoat, basecoat, primer and wax and grease remover wipe

To create the best looking coat for your vehicle, we recommend the following:

PRIMER, COLOR, AND CLEARCOAT - It goes without saying that you need paint to do a touch up paint job. Clearcoat provides a thin protective layer for your paint job while Primer is required for damage that has reached the original base material.

WAX AND GREASE REMOVER CLOTH - The wax and grease remover cloth is used to remove wax, grease, and contaminants before painting.

SANDPAPER - Wet-sanding the affected area removes rust and prepares the surface with a rough finish so the paint can stick better.

POLISHING COMPOUND - The polishing compound smooths everything out with a factory-grade finish.

These tools are all available with our Platinum kit but can be purchased separately on the TouchUpDirect website.

How to find your Buick Paint Code?

How to Find Your Buick Paint Code

In all Buick models, you can find the paint color code on the "Service Parts Identification" sticker. Now, this sticker can be located in many different places depending on your Buick model or year. Also, as some Buicks have two tones, you may need to get the two color codes in order to get your paint job right. In that case, the "U" represent the upper body color and the "L" the lower body or bumper color. The Buick color codes usually start with "WA", a letter and a 4 number string (WA-U8555) or simply by a letter and a four number string (L8555). You can start your search for the "Service Parts Identification" sticker in the trunk deck lid, the spare tire cover/well or right wheel house and then move to the glove compartment. If you have one of the following Buick models start with the rear; Century, Lesabre, Lucerne, Park Avenue, Regal, Riviera and Skylark. If you have one of the following Buick models start with the glove box; Allure, Enclave, Lacrosse, Rainier, Rendezvous and Terraza. Buick Paint Code Examples: WA-U8555, L8555
